What Is The UK Coloured Pencil Society?
The UK Coloured Pencil Society (also known as UKCPS) is a society for artists that work in coloured pencil. It supports UK based artists by promoting them online. UKCPS aims to promote coloured pencil as a media by educating artists and the public about coloured pencils and the effects that can be achieved.
The UK Coloured Pencil Society website allows members to share tips, techniques and advice with other coloured pencil artists. Their website also has a gallery of members work with links to artists web pages and offers examples or what can be achieved with coloured pencils.
It consists mainly of online support but members can also get involved in exhibitions, demonstrations and workshops. The UK Coloured Pencil Society keep artists up-to-date with details of upcoming events and exhibitions which promote this medium.

UK Coloured Pencil Society Exhibitions:
As a member, you are entitled to submit your coloured pencil work in to several exhibitions.
Members are invited to exhibit once a year at the RBSA Gallery in Birmingham. The next Exhibition takes place on the 28th April – 10th May 2014 at the RBSA Gallery, 4 Brook Street, Birmingham, B3 1SA. RBSA Gallery opening times are Monday-Friday 10.30am – 5.30pm, Saturdays 10.30am – 5.00pm & Sundays 1.00-5.00pm. This UKCPS Exhibition is sponsored by Faber Castell, a manufacturer and art supplier of pencils.

How Do I Become A Member Of The UK Coloured Pencil Society?
It’s simple! All you have to do is fill out a membership form and pay an annual fee. There are 3 types of membership available. The UK Coloured Pencil Society is open to all artists that work in coloured pencil, from beginners to amateurs to professional artists. You do not need to submit work to become a member.
Are you lucky enough to become a Signature Member?
Signature status is awarded to Full UKCPS Members that have been accepted in to the Open International Exhibition 3 times in a 5 year period. Becoming a Signature member entitles members to use the initials “UKCPS” after their name.
How Much Does Membership Of The UK Coloured Pencil Society Cost?
There is a once yearly membership fee. Prices as of 2014 are:
– UK Full Membership – Prices from £35.00
Outside UK Full Membership – Prices from £41.00
– UK Associate Membership – Prices from £25.00
Outside UK Associate Membership – Prices from £31.00
– Student Membership – Prices from £16.00
(Same as Associate Membership – proof of full time education status required)
