Summer Open Studio Season Is Here! Are You Going?
What better way to have a nose around the artist’s studios and houses! Not to mention picking up an original piece of art, commission free, and a drink and nibble along the way. A very merry affair indeed.
Open Studios are hugely popular attracting buyers, collectors, gallery owners and supportive family and friends. (Read Private View Etiquette – an amusing guide to open studios and private views)
So jump in the car or hop on a bus and in the style of “Challenge Anneka” visit as many artists as you can. Jumpsuit optional!
Why Do Artists Take Part In Open Studios?
Open Studios were established to promote artists and their practice to local and wider audiences. Artists are encouraged to open their studios to the public whether they are in a studios building or in a shed at the bottom of the garden.
Open Studios events often work in partnership with others to create a larger event or arts festival. Artists are also encouraged to offer demonstrations and workshops allowing the public to become actively involved in the arts scene. These events offer economic benefits to both the artist and the local community.
Open Studios are always great fun and we are extremely lucky in Kingston and surrounding areas to have so many taking place each year. There is a huge wealth of talent right on our doorstep offering a range of disciplines. So whether painting, sculpture, illustration or printing is your thing there is something for everyone and for all budgets.
Hope to see you all there and if inspiration should strike remember that you can get your Art Supplies at Pullingers Art Shop.
